It is known for the many white beaches that it has to offer, and Boracay beach specifically has received many awards from numerous travel agencies. The expected transportation is a boat because Boracay Island is separated by a narrow straight from Panay Island. The beach has a range of restaurants, bars, night clubs, and leisure activities to select from. For leisure activities, tourists can take a thrill ride across the crystal clear water on a banana boat or go snorkeling to see fishes such as, cudas, marlins and sailfish.
[Image rights: Kitakitts, (CC BY-NC)] Lakawon Island: Lakawon is a remote island in Cadiz Viejo meaning “Old Cadiz.” The word “Lakawon” is derived from a dialect called Cebuano where “Lakaw” means “to walk.” The people who speak in this dialect most likely originated from Cebu or in the northwestern part of Negros Occidental. Lakawon is known for its beach resort, white sand, and is said to be one of the popular destinations for locals and tourists.
